Shorecrest Parent Association

Fall Festival

Every Halloween, the Shorecrest Parent Association hosts a fun family day for all Lower Division families and students.

The festivities begin following the costume parade and end with a hot dog lunch cooked and served by the Shorecrest Administration Team.

Many families mention this as one of their favorite days at Shorecrest. The day will include amusement games, pony rides, bounce houses, rock walls and much more, with a few surprises added this year.

We have kicked off our planning sessions, but still welcome anyone interested in being on this committee to get in touch with the Fall Festival Chair Karen Quilty at karenquilty@tampabay.rr.com or chair-elect Sydney Legakis at slegakis@yahoo.com.

This is a great way for new parents to help out and meet other parents at school. We are recruiting Middle and Upper Division parents to work a 2-3 hour shift during the Fall Festival so Lower Division parents can spend the morning with their children. We will include more information on this in future updates.

Attention, Parents

On the Parents Page of the Shorecrest website, there is a new section filled with information specifically for our new families.

Click here, take a look at it, and let us know what you think.

Did we leave anything out? Any suggestions for making information more readily available to our new and returning families? We want to hear your thoughts! Send an e-mail to admissions@shorecrest.org.

Clinic Bytes

For those of you who are new to Shorecrest, my name is Marie Confident and I am the school nurse. The clinic is located behind the Spanish classrooms in the Lower Division. I am available during school hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. I would love to hear from you if your child has any significant medical history or allergies.

The clinic has the following over the counter medications in stock: Tylenol, Motrin, Tums, Benadryl and throat lozenges. I will gladly give medication sent from home, but it has to be in its original container; and if it is a prescription, it has to be labeled with the student's name, medication name, dosage, and when to administer. Also, the parent has to fill out and sign a form for any medication administration.

If you haven't turned in your child's physical and immunizations form, you will be receiving a call from me soon to remind you, especially if your child is in Kindergarten or seventh grade as it is a requirement of the State of Florida.

Welcome to Shorecrest and have a great school year.

I can be reached at ext. 165 or via e-mail at mconfident@shorecrest.org.

Sincerely,
Marie Confident, RN
Shorecrest school nurse
